This month: São Paulo

São Paulo is largest, richest and most populous city in the Southern hemisphere and one of the world's most dynamic urban centres, playing host to cutting edge art, music and fashion. The climate tends to be described as both subtropical and humid but you can expect it to be dry with temperatures usually around 25ºC / 77ºF this time of year.

Things you can do in São Paulo

1	Paraty International Literary Festival: Held in the colonial seaside town of Paraty
	(5 hours drive from São Paulo) this is one of the most important literary events in
	Brazil. 6-10 July 2011.
2	Campos de Jordao International Winter Festival: Held in the city of Campos so
	Jordao (2 hours drive from São Paulo), this is the largest classical music event in Latin
	America. 2-24 July 2011.
3	Anima Mundi Brasilian International Festival of Animation: Renowned video and
	film festival devoted exclusively to animation. Held at the Latin American Memorial
	from 27-31 July 2011.
4	Ibirapuera Park: São Paulo's version of Central Park offers quite a bit to see and do.
	The Museu de Arte Moderne (Museum of Modern Art), Museu da Aeronáutica (Air
	Force Museum) and the Museu do Folclore (Folklore Museum) are located here.
	Every Sunday morning there's a free outdoor concert in the park's Praça da Paz.
5	Jardim Zoológico: São Paulo Zoo has more than 3,000 animal species, and many
	of its 410 species - such as the mico-leão-dourado (golden lion tamarin monkey) - are
	endangered. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

SBGR: São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport
	The airport is presently undergoing redevelopment, involving construction of a third runway and terminal, to be ready in time for Brazil's hosting of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament and 2016 Summer Olympics. Though there are also plans to build an express rail link between the airport and the city, for now you have the choice of taking either a taxi or a bus.

SBSP: Congonhas Airport
	Congonhas Airport (SBSP) is one of São Paulo's three commercial airports, situated 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the city center. It was São Paulo's main airport until 1985 when São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport was built because of congestion at Congonhas. In spite of that, Congonhas Airport continues to be important to the city for regional and short-distance domestic flights.
