The origin of the name of the city of Campinas goes back to when it was a resting place for cattle drivers heading to our returning from Goiás and Cuiabá. This resting place was known as "Campinas of Thick Brush" because of its three paths located amidst the dense brush. As time went by, the brush gave way to the city of Campinas, the third biggest industrial pole in Brazil that includes agriculture and milk production. 9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 17% of the industrial production of São Paulo State are from the Campinas Region, which is also responsible for 10% of all the agroindustrial production from São Paulo and ranks first in the country in the use of high quality seeds and agricultural mechanization. Even though an industrialized region, Campinas shows great charm, beauty and the quality of life of the paulista inland. Source: Brazil Ministry of Tourism
